You know this is the poster formerly known as Mograyback, isn't he the one that said you would be put out of business by WebMD?
Nah...that was powerman. He also said bartenders would always be in high demand and have jobs.

Yeah and several wise men ran our countries economy into the ground because at the end of the day they could give two shits less about anything except their bottom line short term.
This country? You mean the riches in the world? With the eating contest, free cell phones, and Obamacare? So who's doing better? Ever think that it might be gov't intervention and protection that allowed these douches to do what they did? So lazy mf'ers that are satisfied with jack shite are the innovators and entrepreneurs that make the economy click? Damn...I'm fricking myself by busting arse. All this GD money, boats and hoes must be an illusion.

No doubt. But look at the context in which I wrote that statement. I was saying that our "poor" are clearly not starving....which before us, never happened in human history.
What never happened before in human history?
People are starving, lots and lots of people. Our food system and demand is to blame for starving people all of the world. It's absolutely understood that capitalism works in the sense you've described; it's gotten a nation(s) fat while billions starve, even members of the fat nation.

So, how was my post about capitalism being moral and a huge benefit to society "regurgitated programming"?
The problem with making explanations is they require a lot of effort, it's not like these one liner principles that have been engrained in you, things take long and deep explanations that often times have contradictory elements that have to be worked out. That kind of dialogue doesn't work in this setting and giving of the effort needed to attempt it isn't usually worth it.

That is true, but that has nothing to do with what you replied to.

Kinda like corporations.

Most seem to think they are smarter than they are and fail to heed advice given to them by more intelligent successful people.
I have no idea where your response came from, but anyway, I'll go with this. You think most people are poor because they don't listen to smart successful people?
quote:
Your telling me a poor person will choose baked chicken and steamed broccoli over a big mac and coke if the healthier option was cheaper?
I get that, I guess you don't understand how the world works.

"poor" people being fat. You're a smart guy, ST, it wasn't that hard to comprehend.

Huh? Poverty world wide is DECREASING and has been doing so at an amazing rate.

If you truly believe that, then what are you doing here?

If people are starving here, it's their own damn fault. Many are too damn lazy or stoned to go fill out the damn forms. You do not deal with reality do you. And as far as other countries go, not our problem. They make their own rules, let them reap the rewards. Most hate us any way and waste/misuse the resources that we send them. You people need to nut up and realize you can't fix everybody. You absolutely cannot help those that will not help themselves. And guess what...99% of the time those that will help themselves don't need your form of help. They need you to stay the frick outta their way.

I seem to understand it much better than you. Get back with me when your balls drop and you've worked a few years.
BTW...What are YOU doing to help? I give nutritional ed and diet plans for free in addition to a multitude of other services. I have pt's bring me list of things they like to eat and then help them create healthier low cost versions. Do the do it? shite no. How much real world experience do you have? I'm guessing very little. I may be a little cynical, but I speak the truth. I still attempt to educate for the sake of the few that listen and make changes. I've come to take great pride in my few successes. But you need to wake the frick up if you think you can change the world by giving people free shite. Most of these dregs won't even drive their fatty scooters over to pick it up.

Being fat is not a determination of health.
And cultures of human beings have kept themselves well fed, some with great abundance before capitalism.

This is a flawed stat.
For example, right now you can buy full estates in rural Spain for nothing. These are plots of land that families farmed for centuries. These little communities had to come into the city to find low income work during the financial collapse in 08. Now they're no longer considered impoverished because they make more than $2 a day, but now they pay for their food and housing, which before was provided by their land.
This is a mini shot example of how people have been taken from their rural land which provided the basic necessities of life to a city job that pays low but enough to no longer be considered impoverished.
This has happened over and over again the last century. That is why poverty is going down.

What negatives?
It seems that folks are arguing for laissez-fare capitalism by dismissing our current system's failures as a perverted mixed economy i.e. "If the government would stay out of our sacred free-market ". Are you against all regulation? government? A company can be down-right evil whether it's owned by John Smith or a collection of shareholders. The profit motive stands regardless.
So what negatives? Where to start…………..

Well it is, if you look at what's actually happening.
Large corporations strip other countries of their natural resources while leaving them with less.

Holy lord, man. I'm saying our poor are not starving, in fact, quit the opposite....which never happened before in human history.

Who were some of these cultures w/ poor people that were well fed?

Never heard that explanation before. Do you have a source or link I can check out?
ETA: just saw the link above. Do you have any other studies besides Spain?

Why does every place with cheap, abundant farmland have to have a godawful government? I just want to be left alone in a palatial estate in a warm climate.
