Poverty Impedes Cognitive Function

This isn't what the research found. At best the first study shows that poor people handle financial stress worse. And I don't see any causality. It could be possible that people are poor because they suffer from financial stress and thereby make worse monetary decisions than the non-poor. Not saying that is the cause, but the experiment as framed can't really answer that question.

The farmer's experiment...I really fail to see how that can be linked to poverty at all. It shows when the most stressful part of the season hits and the farmer is worried about bankruptcy, yeah, he is a little distracted. It lacks external validity.

But let's just say it's true. Being poor CAUSES one to make bad decisions (probably through a stress mechanism).

So? Why would people who "hate the poor" change their mind on anything because of that fact?

I mean if nothing else, it would seem to explain a lot of Democratic voters.

I would think that it actually opens up the door to provide more guidance and controls on the poor including drug testing for welfare, replacing EBT cards with beets/spinach/beans/rice, and revoking voting rights to those that take government assistance. I mean, if it is indeed true that poverty impedes cognative disability....
