I drink like 2 Barq's root beers a year with a shrimp po-boy. Been that way for almost four years. Before that I was drinking around four or five diet cokes a day. Went from 195 to 170 in about six months. Added exercise and a better diet since then and weigh 156 now.
I drink black coffee, green tea and water during the day. Have not cut back on alcohol at all. Soft drinks are just terrible for you.

A better question would be, if you did everything you just said, and cut out all alcohol, but kept drinking the diet soft drinks, would the results have been the same?
Until you do that, no way to really conclude that the soft drinks are actually any more terrible for you than the alcohol.
