One of hone best history professors I ever had at LSU was Gaines Foster. In his course the new south he routinely has us read two books back to back that discussed the same events and time period from vastly different perspectives. I found that to be a very effective method to show that depending on your place in said events, the interpretation could be very different.

Taking a history class in college is much different from taking history in sixth grade. This worksheet doesn't cite any academic source, it doesn't present a counter perspective, it simply presents an historically inaccurate opinion as fact.

Read through the federalist papers and Madison's personal writings. It is clear that the intent of the Second Amendment goes well beyond to formation and arming of militias (and not just state militias as presented in the worksheet.)

History is not a collection of facts or dates, history is a telling of events and being able to critically examine the author's interpretation is key to understanding the events.

Then the sixth graders should examine Madison's intent because it is vastly different than what is presented here.

Common Core is bacon-wrapped shite. The idea of skill-based standards isn't the problem. The problem is that the approved texts are loaded with agenda-driven bullshite.

It's just another reason to have your children educated by someone other than the government.
