I got the note 3. I want to root but have no clue how. I'm afraid I'll frick something up.

you cant. android is virtually impossible to brick.
but make sure you got nothing on it first (get your photos & stuff off)
then go to XDA, grab wugfresh's TOOLKIT (if your phone is supported or which ever one supports note 3) and find a YOUTUBE video that walks you through it.
easiest way to go.
once you root you wont go back. it opens up a whole new world for your phone.
