You know he probably wants to reestablish a land route to Kalingrad eventually so I would look at the Baltic states soon.

No. Neither Obama or our next president is going to declare a new war after 13 or more years of fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan–with, I'm sorry to say, very dubious results (hardly the fault of our brave troops, to be sure). The key here is not the U.S. but Europe, which has far closer and more significant ties (read: gas, oil, commerce, etc.) to Russia than than has the U.S.
