Miles out, limits(know it's two during regular season but thought it was three for LA special season), etc. I've been out the game for a few years.
Anyone been having any luck on the red snapper and mangroves lately?

I'd like some more info myself. Just usually let Tommy worry about it. TIA

Fri - Sunday 2 per person over 16 inches
Fishable waters are any lousiana state waters
The kicker is that last year lousiana staked claim out to 9 naut miles but the Feds only acknowledge out to 3 naut miles. La green jeans won't check boats for snapper out to the 9 naut mile limit; but Feds can and have checked boats anywhere past the 3 naut mile line.
Last year the Feds issued warning for the first several weeks but then issue tickets later. Idk how it's wen so far this year

Went on my bros boat 2 wknds ago and caught 10 reds in short order about 7-8 miles out. Averaged a little over 10lbs by the boga grip. Standard shite for getting them in the boat: cut bait on a leader under a big 8-12oz weight. Big baits caught the bigger fish.
Eta: 5 guys on boat

Mind if I ask where y'all went out of? Any mangrove activity?

Out of cypress cove in Venice, then out tiger pass. We did make a stop for mangroves on the way back in but didn't get any takers drift fishing cut bait. Chummed for a little bit. Didn't have live bait tho and we were running out of daylight (spent most of day chumming and drift fishing the lump) so we had to call it and head in.

Can you legally keep redfish. 9 miles out?

I assume you mean red snapper.
Seems to be a debate on actually where the state line is. I wouldn't want anyone to mistaken my half-assed knowledge as advice.

Thought for sure that was a no-no.

30 lbs. are you guys sure you can't keep 3 during the fri-sun season

Red"fish" is one over 27" per person per day I believe. Red"snapper" is a whole different fish.

I'm talking about 3 red snapper during the special season. I know the difference between red snapper and redfish.
