Baton Rouge doesn't attract young, urban professionals who want to live in the urban core. When Baton Rouge can attract business that will attract these kind of people, they'll continue moving to cities that offer far more.
Self fulfilling prophesy... Is self fulfilling prophesy.
When will Baton Rouge attract the type of business that young urban professionals like when the businesses that attract those kinda of people are looking for those kinds of people to locate themselves around.
If I were in one of those companies and drove through downtown Baton Rouge, would I think it were the kind of place for my business?
If I were a higher end retailer, would I look for my demographics or would I expect my demographics to look for me? Same for all retailers. Revitalize the area, and make it a desirable area, and they will find you and want to be right in the mix.
