I'm 100% in favor of putting pressure on the EBR School Board to be more proactive in meeting the needs of the SE part of the parish's students. I just don't see the legislature and voters approving a constitutional amendment to create a SG ISD.

I would like to see it proposed to designate Woodlawn High School as an exclusively GT/magnet school, similar to BRMHS. Transfer the non-magnet/non-GT students to Tara and to Lee High when it fully reopens.

Then all those students who attend BRMHS but who live in the SG area could transfer to Woodlawn, freeing up space in BRMHS for additional students who are suffering on the waiting list to get in there.

I think this would be make the parents happy that only care about their kids education and not the system as a whole, but it doesn't resolve the problems that are killing the whole school district.

Above everything I would rather a major overhaul of the school board from top to bottom. Reevaluate everyone who works for EBRPSS and determine if they are fit for teaching the youth in the city, all of the standing disciplinary rules and even the whole cirriculum.

I think most of the problems can be fixed by better parenting, but the school system has to make due with what they are given, they can't change what happens at home.
