Sorry, it's true. Buddy of mine in high school worked at a movie theater and they bagged up all the popcorn for the next morning every night when closing up.

As a former manager I can tell you it is. Employees either took the popcorn home or it was trashed. No theater in America does that. Popcorn is incredibly cheap, like 17¢ for what we would sell for $100.
Edit: Other people in this thread worked for some shitty theaters, I've worked for 2 of the 3 largest theater companies in the US. AMC and Carmike. Neither does that.
