If I for one minute thought that the people of St. George would stand and fight and invest in their own place where they live, I might entertain the concept of St. George, but I know good and damn well they won't because they never have shown the willingness to do so, and there's nothing of significance to fight for anyway that a new Walmart or shopping mall build down the interstate won't give them just the same, especially when it's newer and shinier. If you can't find the reasoning or justification in fighting for the above assets, then what makes anyone think that people would fight for an area that couldn't even muster enough of a fight to save a damn golf course from being built upon?

No doubt about it..
If only BR were an island in the gulf, with limited land to evacuate to, then with their backs against the wall, you wouldn't have to actually explain why it's important to invest in your own city rather than evacuate it, or trick yourself with a mall down the street from another mall that looks like a downtown, yet is far removed from your actual downtown, and the building fronts and chains dominating the landscape are as fake as the whole reasoning behind it all. One big trick we play on ourselves to play make believe rather than really do it. Playing community rather than being a community. It's ridiculous.
Meanwhile, back on Main Street in and near Mid City lies a virtual ghost town for all intents and purposes, almost completely forgotten about by people occupying the proposed St. George area they have long referred to as Baton Rouge. Dangerous? Not even. You have to have a population of some significance to be considered dangerous.
