The Make A Wish website says the condition must be "life threatening" as determined by doctors, but not necessarily terminal.

Hell a lot of these feel good stories lately in the news have been for kids that are in remission or even no longer sick. I can't remember which it was, but one that went semi viral a few months ago, the kid was completely healthy (wasn't cancer) and had been so for it seemed like over a year or more.
Seems like Make A Wish plays on the kids are dying belief to build funds, but they are very lax about who gets the funds.

I find it humorous that 1 outlet starts an article about something that isn't true, and people jump on board like mindless sheep and accept it for the truth.
people on here was just going over the top about Garfield, and it turns out it was never true.

yes, because questioning the use of Make A Wish funds is the same thing as saying frick the kid who overcame cancer....

Was looking for articles on Make A Wish and apparently the terminally ill thing is something they changed within the last decade.
Parents use to have to pay make a wish back if the kid went into remission and lived to adulthood. Make A Wish sent collection agencies after people and sued people for nonpayment. Probably were forced to go the way they do now just to focus on seriously ill kids for legal reasons. This way definitely sounds better than attacking families that just spent a ton on medical bills.
I did find this interesting article though, Dad says give the money to someone else after his kid survives leukemia and Mom wants the free trip. They aren't married...
