I have lived in BR my entire life and can count on one hand the number of times I have gone north of Florida between Cortana and O'Neal. So I just looked at a google street view of N Little John and drove north. It does look like a predominantly black area, and the yards look well maintained. Even saw a few guys out weed eating. So while the area has different demographics than it did 30 years ago, at least there is hope that people are moving in and maintaining the neighborhood.

Of course, this is BR. I'm probably wrong.

I agree, it is very sad. I do think this is something that most cities struggle with. We need good leadership and smart growth/development/redevelopment to ensure that the changes made are for the better.
