The only petition that matters is ticket renewals. If you don't renew, make sure your ticket rep knows why.

This is a good strategy. I think there are better ones overall,

completely serious question here…what would be some other strategies?

i think one positive about a new head coach in the offseason would be to create new buzz around the team. basically, a rebranding of a rebranding. someone posted back a few months ago how rebranded teams never do well in their first season. i can't remember what happens in the second to the majority, but i think it was positive.

strongly agree here...want optimal buzz? -- hire the 2012-2013 Coach of the Year who was all over the news for his questionable firing.

To me, spending NO money with the team gives them ammo to start talking about things we don't want to talk about.

So, you buy tickets from them, but the cheapest possible or cheapest enjoyable. You don't buy concessions. You don't pay for parking. You do not participate in their marketing or contests. You express yourself in the media, to the team directly, and at games. You do not boo the players (unless they deserve it), but you boo like hell before and after games, when they show Monty (or whomever). You tell their sponsors why you won't or don't patronize them.

You figuaratively scream as loud as possible, amplify it as much as possible, but you do the minimum to keep the team here and keep their grousing about support to a minimum.

You wage a PR battle. You organize.

And when they make the move you want, you reward the team in similar fashion, making sure to tell people why.

Here, you deal with management, not frontline workers unless it is with the team itself.

I actually have been sorting through this for an article. Comments are welcome.

To me, you just can't risk taking a hit to the most basic and convential levels and methods of fan support.

Besides, if you aren't a STH, it gives the team an excuse to dismiss your input. You need to be a customer, not just a fan, to really be heard.
