Was just looking at the World Cup schedule and we got pretty hosed in the way the matches are scheduled.
Two of my really good friends were sent to Brazil by Tyson's as they climb that corporate ladder for a couple years. Was thinking it might be fun to surprise them and bring them a care package or two from back home and catch a couple matches if I could. The sheer distance and time to travel to the matches is logistically impossible as my buddies are in Rio and Sao Paulo.
Our first match on 6/16 is in Natal, a 34 hour drive according to google, which is probably more likely to be 40 hours, so there's 2 1/2 days of travel. Match 2 on 6/22 is in Manaus, which is DEEEEEEEP in the Amazon and looks to be 4600+KM and clocked at 68 hours of drive time on google. So there's 4 days of travel to get in the backwaters of the Amazon. Then 4 days later for match 3 against Germany on 6/26, it's back to the coast and another 4,600KM trip and another clocked 68 hours of drive time.
Americans will be spending the entirety of group play on the roads traveling to see matches, and we don't even get within 2,000KM of Rio where most of the international flights land. Or get to have off days to sight see and party at the bad arse locales of the coast, it'll just be rain forest, monkeys, checkpoints, roadkill and piss breaks, and small town hassles.
We'd have to win Group and the round of 16 match to finally play in Rio or Sao Paulo in the quarters on the 4th of July.
Seems like a nightmare for anyone trying to go to all of the matches.

Watching USA play on the 4th of July would be sex

I'm going to go ahead and assume that no one will be driving between venues

You'd literally have to be somewhat mentally retarded to drive those destinations. There is one road that goes into Manaus, so it would be very ignorant

We knew this literally the second the groups were drawn.
