Who is Fighting Frank?
Frank Polozola, the former U.S. District Judge. Among other things, he ran the Louisiana penal system under a civil rights order - for years. He was a cranky old bastard, too.
Anyway, he sentenced Seal to the halfway house, no weapon, and no bodyguard. This was after he was cooperating with authorities - effectively signing Seal's death warrant, which happened during Seal's service of his "house arrest" sentence. Polozola was blamed by many for his death and the loss of the information he was, apparently, willing to provide.
Polozola died last year.
There are many, many intriguing facets to the Barry Seal story - his Civil Air Patrol stuff with David Ferrie and Lee Harvey Oswald, smuggling weapons to the Cuban rebels, involvement with the CIA - all that crazy shite he did BEFORE he became one of the biggest drug smugglers in the U.S.
His wife says he flew one of the getaway planes out of Dallas on November 22, 1963. Maybe she was selling a book - maybe it was the truth, but with his background, you cannot say it is impossible.
It can be an entertaining movie, even if there is little to no factual basis for some of this. Look at JFK and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.

Frank Polozola,
With all due respect to the federal judiciary and the dear departed . . . frick Polozola with a rake. A corrupt, disgrace of a U.S. District judge . . . imho (and I say that from personal experience).
