I don't really care what your charts and graphs say, I live in south Texas and I can say from thorough experience that they hate "jotos" (Spanish slang approximately equal to f@ggot).
They kick gay kids out of the house, have priests come and try to exorcise them, all kinds of shite.

I've found that polls seem to reflect the mindset of the current political party in power.
Under Bush polls showed majority of people against gay marriage and abortion.
Now under Obama it has flip flopped.
Do you really think people's minds change on these issues in such a short time?
I think polls are deliberately skewed when done on social issues in order to promote the agenda of the party in power. This is for both sides, and is largely done to try to convince the other side to lean more their way on certain issues.
IMO it's best for each party to stick to it's beliefs and don't let polls affect your legislation or how you campaign. Stick to your principles and speak your message as best as you can, and see how the cards fall.
