I've never understood the category of "black food"
Everyone eats fried chicken and watermelon, most everyone in the south eats cornbread.

See my previous post. Most staples of soul food were actually originated by slaves. Not sure this applies to fried chicken, though.

I was just about to post almost this exact same thing. I consider cornbread, greens, fried chicken, etc more southern food than "black" food. And its' frickin delicious.
