This is what I heard from somebody so don't shoot the messenger.
They said if you ran regular oil for a long time that when you switch to synthetic you might have problems with leaking since the synthetic is not as viscous.
I run synthetic because of stop and go traffic in BR and I'm lazy and want to extend the time between.

at 150,000 I changed to high mileage, not sure what brand, whatever Bennys has, I'm still cruising. 270,000. ford 150 kranch 4x4 5.4l
