You can watch YouTube videos from Art of Shaving stores where they perform a shave and show you their process.

The Art of Shaving pre Shave Oil is good but $25 for a small bottle is ridiculous. I have found Almond Oil does the exact same thing. I found a large bottle at Whole Foods for under $15. The purpose of pre-shave oil is to soften your beard as well condition your skin.
