There are tax credits for the studio and the theaters, but the rest is coming from private sources. The company is even willing to buy the land from New Orleans to own it all outright.

Also, if you read the proposal, the original park was profitable, but it didn't hit projections. There were problems (lack of shade, etc) that the new ownership seeks to rectify.

As a theme park fan, the proposal also has encouraging things that have caught my eye. The drop tower would actually be themed to a lighthouse. The Jester coaster would receive a faux mountain. The MegaZeph is getting new trains, a tunnel, and music.

In other words, this plan is a step up from what the park was. And at 25 minutes from my house, I'd definitely get an annual pass.
