Pork and room temperature question

I know that I can have beef at room temperature for around 8 hours before cooking, but what about pork? I am cooking some bone in pork chops on the iron skillet later today and was wondering. What sayeth the Food and Drink Board? Thanks in advance.

Couple hours if inside on the counter is fine. Even a bit longer especially this time of year.

Thanks Martini. There are always a few who lie and talk crap, but you seem legit.

Stick around. He'll talk crap before the end of the day.
You can leave pork out with no problems. There are only about 10 cases of trichinosis reported annually, so not a big deal IMO.

Absolutely no worry with any trichinosis when leaving pork at room temperature, even for several days.
Bacterial food poisoning is a different story. You should be OK with several hour exposure to room temperature. I'd begin to worry at 8 hours. Covering them and only exposing them to clean conditions would help a lot.
Good luck. thousands (including me) have done what you mention with no ill effects and three souls did not do so well.
Most of life is an interesting in vivo experiment in practical application of normal, skewed and multi-modal probability.
Oh, the great universal truth is "there actually is no such thing as a free lunch." translated into laymen's terms, this reads, "everything has a cost."
