To be clear, are you saying that no one using btc for illegal purposes will ever be able to be discovered and prosecuted henceforth?

No, I'm saying in the next few months when the Bitcoin 1.0 platforms (Dark Wallet and things like that) get built on to the bitcoin protocol, those transactions will be anonymous.
So, someone using bitcoin for an illicit activity can trustless mix his way to anonymity.
He might slip up somewhere else, but it won't be because of bitcoin (Like the DPR using his actual name to promote the SR).
