I have a friend in the Army that told me he used to do this to himself when he had access to medical supplies on base.

I worked at a hospital once where we were very short staffed and one of the nurses started feeling sick and vomiting.
Charge nurse actually convinced her to let them put a saline lock in her and give her an IV bolus. She actually had the IV in covered by her sleeves as she worked the rest of her shift.
F that....I would have said I'm sorry but I have to go home.
This was years ago btw and likely illegal as hell.
