Didn't Home Depot or Lowes announce they were doing this late last year?

Home Depot, Trader Joe's and Forever 21 are some other large retailers that have recently done this. In 2011 WalMart ended coverage for their employees working 24 hours or less, then in mid 2013 they announced they would be moving 35,000 part-time folks to full-time status so they could get the health benefit.

Home Depot

Started part time with them in 05 when I decided to start my own business. They had United Healthcare for part timers at the time and one of the reasons I chose them as my part time. Fortunately, my business is self sustaining now and I pay my own insurance through it now (increased with lesser benefits thanks to Obamacare). HD changed their policy for PT'ers a couple yrs ago, basically covering up to like 25K in medical expenses, then you're on your own. I have no idea what it is now, but imagine it's the same or worse. I do know they dropped all PT'ers to under 29 hrs a week and have been hiring less FT employees and more PT employees though. So now, they pay less and will be paying less benefits. Working out great, thanks Obama.
