I really love how he and Kevin Smith once got in a feud, and Burton claims that he would never read a comic book if his life depended on it. Smith's classic comeback was, "Well, I guess that explains Batman."

And just FTR, the feud between Smith and Burton, if there was one, was because of a joke interview Smith did claiming Burton stole a shot for Planet of the Apes from a comic book series Smith did as a tie in between Chasing Amy and Dogma. Burton saw it and freaked out, saying "anyone who knows me knows I would never read a comic book". Smith replied with that line.
