That can definitely be true but not the case in my situation.

I decided I didn't want to risk it again (I was on the side of a mountain) so I picked up an Arcteryx GoreTex Pro shell before my last trip. I then used it and was very impressed with its breathability. Of course proper layering and pit zips help.

Remembered I have a pic wearing the jacket. The sky fell out right after this on the way down and I got soaking wet.
