Call me a purist, but college athletes should have to stay in college and earn a degree.

If Iowa would've faced an LSU team full of players who have stayed on a minimum of 4 years, the game would've been over by the end of the 1st quarter. With a 4th year requirement for NFL eligibility, the competitive gap between top tier teams and teams like Iowa would be much larger. Getting to an Outback caliber bowl would be your national championship.

Actually what it would do is spread the talent around more because a lot of the players you get now that get immediate playing time and a ticket to the NFL after two years wouldn't get that opportunity because there would be seniors ahead of them that were just as talented and more experienced.

It would level the playing field more by spreading the talent out to other programs. Guys don't want to sit on the bench waiting to play. They would go where the opportunity is. All of that talent LSU had that left early for the NFL would prevent the new young talent from seeing the field. Players go to LSU because they know they'll have a spot on the depth chart because every player that would have been above them has already left.
