My only issue with describing it as such is the fact that different regimes were involved. However, in historical context, I can see the benefit. The Nazis rise to power was partially a result of the embarrassment suffered during WWI.

The DIRECT cause of WWII was the treaty of Versailles which ended WWI. The ominous reparations and other penalties incurred by Germany { mainly championed by the French}, led to the economic collapse and subsequent rise of the german Nazi party.
