Depends on when your definition of WWII started. I'm using the traditional definition of September 1939, when Germany invaded Poland. WWI started in 1914. So, give or take 25 years. I realize the Japanese had been in Southeast Asia since the early 1930s, but I was referring to the war in Europe.

Some historians don't even separate the two wars. They group World War I and World War II together into one gigantic conflict that started in 1914, took a break from 1919 until the mid-30s, before continuing on until 1945.

I likewise was referring to the war in Europe. The only difference was I was referring to the timespan between the end of fighting in WWI, November 11, 1918 and the beginning of fighting in WWII, September 1, 1939 which puts the timespan between the two wars at 20 years and 10 months.
