If lower taxes created more jobs why aren't we swimming in jobs? Taxes are pretty low across the board when compared to past periods of much higher rates of employment.

Because taxes aren't low. So you are wrong there.

Then there are other regulations that also take away from a company's ability to produce and hire. This is the least business friendly administration in my lifetime (unless of course you are a big bank or a fortune 50 company)

And if I'm understanding you correctly, all of the government spending in your world is completely necessary, and none of it is waste, expendable, or discretionary?

Not no but hell no. I know full well that we could cut spending dramatically by implementing common sense ideas and refusing to be a "Global Force For Good" (this is the Navy's current corporate slogan). The thing is we are bankrupting ourselves by giving away the farm to people in other nations....if it weren't for our excessive military spending there would be no competion from foreign manufacturers and our statutory corporate tax rate would be a fraction of the rest of the worlds because they would have to foot the bill for that spending. SInce this the path we have chosen I don't see why we don't hasten our trip by spending as much as possible on social programs. I like the idea of US Tax $ helping US Citizens more than German and Japanese citizens. I know this makes me a liberal and a scoundrel and an idiot but if we going down in a blaze of glory so we can make certain Toyota has a safe world wide market place for their products then lts do so with the relative safety that our social spending provides the middle and upper class.
