quote:Yep. It can. Just not as easy as it was. Not a big deal for me right now since I've met my spending and won't get another card for 6 more months. Just glad I was able to do the 10k on the AA Exec card before.
OV/VRs at gas stations come next quarter could still be very much in play, so we lost just a little something, but I think it could be made up in other ways.
I'm actually shocked it took this long for CVS to stop doing this. They are losing money after CC processing fees without a doubt.

Ya, that was the huge debate on FT. CVS cited "higher credit card processing fees" as their rationale for the change in the internal memo. Theory is they may have had a deal in place that expired, making it a no brainer, but whatever it was, it sucks for us. Definitely nice you got that Citi in before it was all over.
I'm still in a quiet period myself, though Southwest targeted me for their 50,000 point offer, which I may get for my cousin's wedding. These damn weddings are killing me.
You should start your VR business now
My issue is finding those variable load Vanilla Visa GCs that I can load $500 on. I can't find a retailer to do those, just the $200 ones at Office Supply.

A roadblock that I've encountered with Chase.
They put a hold on available credit even after a payment has been made up to 8 days. I use my card for business use and it's normal for me to max a card, pay it off the next day and max it again the following day. I might max a card and make payment in full 4-8 times in a month.
With my other cards my payment is credited to my account the day after I make the payment and credit is available again the following day. Not so with Chase. They like to play with your money. Looks like they won't get my business. Once the payment clears my bank I expect my credit to be available the following day.

Odd, I have personal and business credit cards with them and never noticed this. Of course, I'm never near my limits so that may be the case.

I haven't seen this news. Actually, I bough a VR card with credit at the CVS by my neighborhood last Saturday.

The "official" stop date is today.

Supposedly the new policy started Apr 1.
I just went to my neighborhood CVS at lunch. Got a pack of gum and 1 VR. Scanned it, slid my card, signed for it and bam. Denied . It was letting me pay for the gum, but left a balance of $503.95 for the VR.
The nice little lady had probably sold me 30 VRs and she said, "you musta run outta money".
I said I don't think that's the problem, so she called the manager over and he didn't know why it wouldn't take it either. I played dumb. I just said it's fine, I'll just take the gum.
She insisted that I should be able to pay with debicks, but I said it's fine, I'll just have the gum.

Looks like the rollout hit the computers timely then. I was hoping that by the nature of Louisiana, we'd somehow get past today with everything still working.

quote:I would contact Chase about that. My credit is available immediately after payment on my biz card and personal. I think it only allows like 8 electronic payments/month or something like that though.

Did you get any of the SW cards at the 50k offer? All those weddings you should have gone for the companion pass. It really is hard to beat for domestic travel.
2 RT tickets to most of the US for <15k points.

No, I was pretty maxed out with what I was doing with Chase when that offer was out, and I haven't attempted to get any more business cards using my "business" to make the companion pass easy to get.
I might eventually spin it off so it generates actual report-able revenue so I can get more cards in the future, but I have to look at the tax/benefits implications more than I have before I do that. I know they don't check all that hard some times, and it is a Sole Proprietorship, but sometimes they do, so its whatever.
The targeted offer is the same offer as earlier this year, I'm just starting to feel guilty if I miss my cousin's wedding but he comes to mine next Spring. I really don't feel like spending the money, so this would be the route to go.
What I really need is Oneworld (American/US Airways) to add a NO to HOU route so I can book via British Airways. CHEAP!!!!

Yes. I've really tried to work the Avios route, but everything requires connections. ATL/DFW/MIA(Actually award requires second tier points) are about the only directs I could utilize at this point. I think.

Yup. There is US Airways to DC which is good for visiting my fiancee's family, so I got one really good one. Once you have a connection though, you're screwed. Too bad we don't live at a hub.

Yup...looks like my regular CV$ locations in BR have dried up. However, it appears the one vanillas are still working at $4.95 fee but would have to be loaded to a bluebird at walmart.
Anybody wanna help me out with some BR spots not named CV$ that have VR's for CC? I'm good competition

Your guess is as good as mine at this point. Haven't looked.
I'll probably try OV at Valeros for some gas 5x points when I see them. My bank will give me free advances on prepaid debits too. We shall see.
This actually is pushing me to get my supply store running. Just been busy.

The OneVanilla cards still work. I bought 4 on last Thursday.
$4.95 fee and Wal-Mart will load them onto Bluebird account. You can only load $1,000 per day onto the Bluebird Card though.

Ya the OVs are pretty easy to use, but if you're using a 1x point card that extra dollar is starting to eat into you're profit.
Still great for minimum spend or trying to get enough for award if you're close. Of course, great if you can get a multiplier like 5x

Did you already do the City American airline card with 100,000 points after 10k spend in three months?
Posted on 4/5/14 at 10:00 pm to Teddy Ruxpin
Haha no. I have no use for AA miles
