Not bad, as long as your aren't hanging the ceiling.

Crap. We have to do part of the ceiling. FIL had an overflow in the second floor bathroom. Have to replace ceiling and at least one wall. Not sure what the damage is in the basement.

Do I need to sand it or anything?

Yeah, pretty easy for the most part. You may even be able to get someone to just come in and tape/mud for cheap. Hang the drywall yourselves, and then outsource the dirty part.
