Is this the thread where everyone shits on doctors?

I think so.
Doctors are human too. Meaning they are not perfect and are capable of mistakes. Like someone else said...it's like any other profession. Some are amazing doctors and some not so much. Don't like or trust your doctor...get another one. Get a second opinion if you need to.

No. Just where people over time distrust "experts" in any field.

ETA the thread title and OP sound worse than most of the discussion in the thread to me.

Maybe there will be a reappearance of mercurochrome, merthiolate, iodine and gentian violet on the drugstore shelves as OTC products.
My granddad put merthiolate on cuts. That bright orange goop burned like hell, but it seemed to work.

heart healthy grains, low fat foods, diet or fat free foods/drinks.
Look around you. The evidence is everywhere.
The SAD (std. American diet) of sugar, refined carbs, and unsaturated fats is killing us.
Conversely, as a result of the illnesses imbued by the SAD, the medical and pharm industries, as well as the health insurance industry are making a killing.
Follow the money or Qui Bono?

That stuff burned like all get out. Had a little glass tube with a ball on the end or something like that. There was also some darker red goop that didn't burn nearly as bad. I liked that much better.

The MD profession is no different that mechanic, plumber, insurance agent. Some are really good and talented, care about what they do and want to stay ahead of the curve as far as new therapies,
You would never hire a mechanic, or plumber, that had the diagnostic accuracy of the average doctor. The human body is obviously more complex than household plumbing, but based on numerous studies that I am too lazy to find, there is huge room for improvement. Also based on numerous studies, your mechanic, plumber, and insurance agent are much more likely to listen to what you think your problem is, and this is important because patients are usually correct in knowing what their problem is.

Let me tell you something about re-imbursement from pharmaceutical companies. We don't get any. If we do, it's essentially a bribe and it's illegal.
Same with health insurance. They pay us what they want and can either take it or not accept their insurance. We don't have any negotiating power behind that. But on the flip side if we don't accept enough insurance then we can't get any patients. It has go to the point where on a national average primary care offices are only making cost on 40% of their patients. That means the ones with good insurance we have to charge more to pay overhead and salaries.
As far as pharmaceuticals go, can you guess the two most profitable drug types?
2. Cholesterol drugs - probably because the majority of America is on them daily and they're cheap to make
1. ED drugs - because its all cash and men will pay any amount of money to have a boner.
