He placed Linc Case on Route 66, one of the earliest television or film depictions of a Vietnam Veteran (and a former POW at that) - in 1964, the average American was 6 months to a year from a general awareness we were involved in a major conflict there.
He also played Pat Garrett in Chisum and O'Brien (Breed) in Big Jake, both starring John Wayne.
