You said that THE REASON people said it should be legalized is because the price will go down. It wasn't THE REASON. It's a byproduct of legalization, but not in the top 10 of legitimate reasons to legalize.

Yes it will go down. How many stores were open the first day? 36? In the entire state? And how many people from around the country went to buy the first day? The demand will more or less stay the same in the long run (read: after the novelty and new found legality wears off). Supply on the other hand will continue to grow as the risk of going to jail has been greatly diminished.

I guess I have to complete the picture for you. The "picture" is drawn by the legalization movement.

The legalization supporters have repeatedly said the legalization of illegal drugs will take the monopoly of the majority of drug supplies out of the hands of drug cartels when legitimate businesses start producing and selling the drugs. This will destroy the profit incentive of the drug cartels and legalization will be the cause (reason) for a decrease in illegal drug prices.

They claim it will also reduce drug related violence.
