No. Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains were way better.

This.

People who hate Pearl Jam are just butthurt that in 1992 they invested in and bet on the wrong horse. They were and always will be my favorite. I as a fan just got lucky. AIC fans got heroin. Nirvana fans got heroin. Soundgarden fans got break ups and dysfunction.

Would have been curious to see Cobain age and how his voice evolved. That scream and rasp does not hold up well to time. Vedder does not go apeshit during Porch anymore. Live they start it out slowly.

OP question? Yes. Dying at rock and roll "death age" puts you up there in the ether.

FWIW I appreciate Nirvana. have about 1 album worth of their stuff on Itunes. And went on to like the Foo Fighters.

Has to be tough being an awkward skinny stoner then have everyone kiss your arse and pull you in different directions. 80's hair band guys were ready to pounce on fame and pu$$y and all perks. It took the Seattle guys 15 years to get comfortable with the whole thing and a few (Cobain/Staley) never did.

You keep saying people got heroin like its a bad thing. Not only is heroin a super awesome drug, it also brings out some of the best music in artists.

That's silly. Everybody who listened to Nirvana also listened to Pearl Jam and vice versa. You didn't have to choose one or the other.

And people don't hate Pearl Jam; they just stopped listening because Pearl Jam stopping making anything worth listening to. Well, that's at least what happened in my case.

I loved early Pearl Jam. And then I bought No Code. I never bought or otherwise acquired another Pearl Jam album.

To be clear, I'm glad that you still like Pearl Jam. If the music they're making still appeals to you, then that's great. There's nothing wrong with calling Pearl Jam your favorite band. But there's plenty wrong with thinking that people who don't love Pearl Jam arrived at that conclusion because "they invested in the wrong horse".

No, the answer is much simpler. Peoople just stopped liking the music they were putting out.

AIC and pearl jam don't hold a candle to nirvana.

And I'm not even the biggest nirvana fan

They made much better albums than either of those two.

Pearl jam just always came across as shallow and cheesy "alt rock"
