I have an old Benjamin 177 but am not pleased with the accuracy and am tired of working the pump after every shot...don't know anything about the crack-pump(CO2?) pellet guns...also live in a neighborhood inside the loop in Houston so nothing louder than the old ben 177...any recs appreciated.

A friend has the gamo bone collector one. Shoots around 1000 fps and it's really accurate.

definitely stay under the 1050 fps...in other words "sub sonic" that way your neighbors don't hear the crack near as much...I'm not saying being sub sonic is undetectable...but you get the idea...don't wanna draw any unnecessary attention to yourself.

.22 with super calibri (sp?) sub sonic bullets. Put a dent in my yard's squirrel population

Whatever you decide look at getting a springer (single shot crack barrel)they're just easier and quicker. Have fun. Pyramyd air

Benjamin Trail XL with Nitro piston in .22 cal. Comes with a decent scope and my son's is super accurate with domed pellets. It will tattoo a squirrel pretty easily too.
edit: adding that it is a single cocking rifle and vary the speed of the pellet by different weights and shapes. One can keep it under 1000fps or exceed if you want to. FWIW, it is most accurate at near 1000 fps.

I have a Stoeger X50 and it is bad arse. The downside is it's pricey and heavy, but it's a killing machine. It comes with a really good scope and one crack give you 1500 FPS. I took my daughter out in the woods Christmas morning and dropped 3 coons and a crow. The first 2 coons came down with 1 shot each.
