Your signal strength is dropping or your speed is dropping?
A docsis 3.0 would be for speed only. It doesn't put out any signal it just connects to your router which puts out the signal.
But if you're getting poor speeds and still have 3+ bars of signal strength, get a docsis 3.0 modem.

I believe it is speed.
For instance, last night, i could get onto td mobile easily on my phone. But i could not upload photos to photobucket. I only was able to do that when i got to work today.
