it was good, but not great

there were scenes, as they stand on their own, that were fantastic, and there were many of them.....but as an entire body of work, it was disjointed, and the story didnt flow very well

the performances were amazing, and it was shot really well....on top of which were some hilarious moments (esp the scene where Lawrence wanted to be thanked for driving him to be inspired to hatch a plan ), but something was lost on the editing room floor...it started and stopped too many times

this was not a case of "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts"....but just the oppisite

The pacing in the first half was really slow but when it picked up, it was really good. As everyone has said the movie is carried by the performances, as with most DOR movies. The plot and plot twists themselves were pretty by the book IMHO. It is a lot funnier than I was expecting.

Jennifer Lawrence did steal all the scenes she was in, but I actually thought Amy Adams did a better acting job in her role. Lawrence's character was a little too hammy and over the top but it really worked in this movie because of the style of the movie and they didn't overexpose her character. It was some kind of amalgamation of Sharon Stone from Casino and Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny.

Overall I really liked it cause the actors really knocked it out of the park and because the movie didn't take itself too seriously when it could have. It was like Goodfellas meets Ocean's 11.

Probably the funniest of many, many funny scenes. I was rolling. I loved the opening scene too, where Bale's hair got messed up. His expression was just masterful.
