A couple of thoughts on granite:

The granite on the table will a lot of weight and could make it harder to roll tyhe tanble around if it is on wheels. Also, if you plan on cutting on the granite the hard surface will damage your knife edge. My entire top is a slab of granite and looking back I would not do it again. That bitch is heavy. I will add a pic to this in a few so you can see the granite. Also, that is a maverick on the left and the base is on the right for the OP that asked.

So you'd keep it wooden and and just put a nice stain on it?

I wasn't thinking of a complete granite tabletop, just an 18" x 30" area. I thought it would be good for food prep and putting hot items down on. I hadn't thought about it dulling knives...
