Let's not forget the 1959 Sugar Bowl game against Clemson: LSU's first score came in the third quarter, as Billy Cannon threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Mickey Mangham as LSU went ahead 7-0. The defenses from either team would not allow any more points, as LSU won the game. Billy Cannon was named Sugar Bowl MVP. That National Championship may have set afire Tiger Nation.
