It's a southern thing that if you are from the south, you know damn well what it means. The difference in miss, mrs, ms, etc is unnecessary when addressing someone affectionately as opposed to formally. It's like the customers that come in my store have referred to my grandmother as Miss Mary Ann for 30 years even though she was married for almost all of them before my grandfather died. And really, I've never heard anybody give a shite until you coonasses decided to attempt to use it to make fun of someone.
