3rd rounders aren't making much more than free agents. If a kid feels his future is in the NFL, it makes more financial sense to go regardless of draft position.

That being said, some athletes have other priorities. To some, completing a degree, winning championships, or just holding on to a place where they're happy is enough to keep them around all four years. But it's important to realize that the dynamic is changing because of the CBA and choices are being made for varying reasons.

I can't think of any LSU player who falls into this category. Heck, not many players at any school has passed up a chance at being drafted really high. Barkley and Luck come to mind recently. It's a pretty short list.

It's easy for you to think of LSU plus a few big name players from other schools who would have gone top 5 had they left. It's more prominent than you think. These are the 3rd round guys and lower you were talking about.

It would help. Recruits like Cameron Sims played a huge role in recruiting hootie and cam Robinson to bama.
