A gas fireplace in a screened in porch is pretty much pointless other than for looks. Inside a home when the temp is controlled at 70-80 with no wind a gas fireplace will warm up the room. But outside in 40-60 degree weather with you might as well turn it off and save on your gas bill.

Stop with the logic. There's no fireplace in this home and nowhere to add one that's reasonable. I'm getting one for looks and I'm trying to get some heat, though I know it won't be a lot since it's open on 2 sides. The East side is blocked by lots of bushes a few yards away. Not much wind coming in that way. The South side which is the 30' will be all open. Getting lots of fans for the warmer weather.

Hungry, I sure would like to know that brand.

Oh, and when I previously had a fireplace, I frequently turned down the AC and had a fire whenever I felt the urge.
I guess the flip side is that if the outdoor gas fireplace doesn't put out much heat, I can use it on hot summer nights and pretend.

GG when we built our house 8 years ago, we went with ventless gas inside and outside. If I remember correctly, they mentioned some kind of built-in fan as an add-on that would blow heat into the room. That way, the heat is not harming your TV above the fireplace. We did not get the fans b/c we were not hanging our TV over the fireplace. Good luck!

We added on to our back patio last winter - we removed the fireplace and installed a gas grill where the fp had been. We never had used the fireplace.
