It hurts A&M way more than us.

Saban cherry picks recruits from Louisiana now will not be any different than him at BAMA except LSU will not have to compete with him on the field every year.
Bingo.
I'm sure there may be one or two recruiting battles in Texas, but Texas has more than enough recruits to go around. We already battle Saban for many of the guys that we go after. We may regain an advantage that we once had in other areas of the Southeast if Saban is gone.
The big difference is we wouldn't have to beat Saban on the field to make the SEC Championship game.

Lsu typically recruits the Houston area, which is aggie land. Saban to Texas would not change much. He'd be more inclined to pick from Oklahoma and take out the sooners. He has cemented his threat to LA at this point. I can't see that changing much.

this is way off. We don't win many battles for Texas recruits with Texas. Most guys we get from there Texas couldn't fit into their class.

That may partially be correct for in state recruits, but I don't think the same claim can be made for players outside the state of Texas. Having Saban as HC would entice more out of staters that may not have had an interest in UT growing up.
That being said, we've competed at a high level against him with success in the past and I don't see that changing. That goes for recruiting and on the field.

quote:How? UT currently has 1 player on there roster from Florida. Saban will continue to recruit regionally and nationally. Will he be able to cherry pick out of Louisianan? Yes, just like he does now. But, he cannot sell to the kids playing in the best conference but he can sell NC's. For every kid he signs from out of state, that leaves another texas kid without a scholly. BTW, it is much easier to sign a kid out of NE LA and convince him to go to Tuscaloosa than it is to go to Austin, IMO.
recruiting battles just got waaay harder

Using the Rivals 250 as a guide, AL has 10 kids in that list, LA 14, and TX has 27. Saban is pressing LA hard right now b/c it offers top flight talent that isn't always in his state, AND it directly affects one of his main competitors in the conference every year.
While he would be foolish to just turn away from a talent rich state he has success in if he were to move to UT, I don't think he would press as hard or offer as many kids as he currently does. Not to mention his staff makeup may not be the same, and the guys he currently has with LA ties may not follow him to UT.

Little Nicky is not going anywhere. He is king of the state in Bama, he would be a complete fool to leave!
