Everything you need to know about Tampa: Tiger Fans will fit better at South Tampa bars. Ybor at night is a fricking nightmare, clubs and shite like that.
St. Pete is better than Tampa in every conceivable manner. Cross the bridge, hit up the beaches/downtown museums, etc.
There's a Lightning game in Tampa on NYE. Lightning games are awesome, would be something cool to do before getting drunk for midnight.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. St. Pete has some very nice areas but I dont spend a lot of time there and will let someone else chime in about the St. Pete highlights.

I highly reocmmend this. I had never been to a hockey game before moving to Tampa. It's a great atmosphere. I just moved from Tampa last year. So of course LSU is planying there this year. Tampa is a great town and is well worth the trip.

This. Went to a lightning/flyers game last season and it was a top 10 most fun sporting event I've ever been to. Considering I had no vested interest in it, that's saying something, the huge Tesla Coils on the Ceiling are alone worth the price of admission.

Are you sure about that? They have a home game on Sunday the 29th, and then they're on the road, I think.

I agree with all of this. If you wear tap out shirts you'll prefer Ybor City. At night downtown St. Pete is livelier than downtown Tampa and it's not just old people, although there are certainly a higher ratio of blue hairs during the winter. St. Pete is more of a free spirit.
Any Lance Armstrongs going to the game may want to check out the Pinellas Trail. I rode it once all the way from downtown St. Pete to Tarpon Springs.

Anywhere in particular as far as bars in South Tampa goes? Trying to stay away from the huge night club scene.
