Ben Wilkerson? Mawae? Stacy Searles? Manu Manu "the slender"?

We don't max protect as often as you think. Just because we are in 2 TE sets doesn't mean it's max protect.
Cameron has been running those formations for a long time and counting on team's stacking the box so receivers can beat coverage over the top.
A team that will have a 3,000 yard passer, 1,000 & 500 yard rusher, and two 1,000 yard receivers can't be struggling that much on the o-line.

Kevin Mawae! Would be an awesome coach and recruiter.

Our line is horrible when blitzed. Horrible!

This.

They've struggled in when the defense is able to pin their ears back because we are playing catch up. Or when they've completely given up on the game like Alabama.
But an o-line can't be horrible when blitzed when the offense is putting up the numbers it has. Teams have blitzed often.

I would love to have Rick Trickett back from FSU (would have to pony up for him), but I wouldn't mind seeing Stacy Searles come back. Mawae would be interesting, but does he really have any desire to get into coaching?

Technique is technique, Play-calling, schemes, etc is all generally the same from team to team. It's not like different languages and totally different ideas. It's mind-frame. the players need to be mentally stronger, confident. Mainly mentally strong. It's a matter of principle. This could lead to the kind of person that are recruited and are on the team. Look at the type of player that is successful in the NFL, and college the same. Look at the groups who have been successful for us in the past. Demographics play a large role in the success of the position, the style of coaching and leadership as well, but in regards to the mentality. This is the most strenuous position to play mentally in the entire game. The combinations and leadership of the entire unit are key. Talent can be over-compensated by mental toughness.

They're not horrible when blitzed. They can't pick up assignments on simple stunts. Been killing em all yr.

No, but everyone needs a pet scapegoat, and this year those are Raymond, Ensminger, and Studrawa.
Yeah, let's just leave everything the same. That's a sound plan...

our oline is mentally weak and physically weak. we need a new oline coach and a new strength and condition program or coach.

I know its not popular because everyone loves moffit, but I think we need to make a change here as well.

Stud's not going anywhere. And to be honest Offensive line hasn't been a problem this year as long as the offense isn't trying to dig the team out of a hole.
Thank you for your expert analysis Coach Stud. If your online can't consistently open up holes against the like of Georgia, Bama etc you have a problem. Coach Stud hasn't done a thing.

he is the golden cow at LSU but we aren't seeing results like we did when he first arrived. I dont know if he just got passed by or has just gotten comfortable with where he is at but something has to change. the one bright spot lately in our s&c program was the 2011 team. That team was actually a legit big strong fast team for 13 games, if we brought back that type of work ethic and offseason program we might be ok.

this. especially on stunts. at some point you'd think that would improve. that's been an issue for way too many of Stud's olines, particularly the right side (07, 12 and 13 come to mind).

if he has the desire to coach he could end up being a great hire.

Mawae did some volunteer coaching at Vandy a couple yrs back and is said to be doing some things around LSU now, so it may happen eventually.
he might go the GA route or a smaller school first though. not sure I've heard of anyone not having been a part of a staff at any level going straight to position coach at a major program. not saying he couldn't do it, but it just doesn't seem likely.

Correct. No one will be hired at LSU as a position coach without proving it (coaching and recruiting) somewhere else first. Same thing was told to Ben Wilkerson.
