I'll say it again because I think it's the foundation of my point, they ALL think they're Mingo and not Sam.

But that makes no sense. Once you go to the committee that tells you your likely draft grade, you already know whether you're Sam or Mingo. If you get a 1st round grade, godspeed. Go to the NFL. No one is stopping you.

But if you don't get a 1st round grade, now it's time to think. Look at Bennie Logan. And he's one of the SUCCESS STORIES. Look at your draft grade, then make a decision. If you're being told 3rd round, you're not Mingo. Mingo was a top ten pick. Top ten picks have different rules.

I'd be willing to bet Mingo and Sam got very similar draft grades, as this time last year they were both projected first rounders. That's why I used them as examples. Sam slipped down because of some of his comments, combine numbers, and most likely the interview process. Point being that a draft grade is a rough projection while some players think it's a sure thing and affirmation of their success in the NFL. They've been told they're the best at what they do all the way up until that point, so advice might fall on deaf ears.

Beckham may be the best example of this. He'll probably get a decent draft grade as a return man, but in the league they're a dime a dozen. He would be a legend at LSU if he returned but a 3rd round grade will probably be enough. I don't see him going the distance as an undersized guy with good hands, but some team will take a shot on him and if he's average they'll cut him loose in a year. Ask him, and he probably thinks he's going to be this year's Tavon Austin.
