I can see him being there another 5 years. I do, however, feel sorry for his successor. He will never be able to replicate this run.

I'm almost starting to feel sorry for Bear Bryant at this point.
If Bama wins the title this year Saban will have accomplished the 3 pete Bryant never did, and will have more than one national title for every two years he's been at Bama (4/7). Bryant had slightly less one title for every four years at Bama (6/25).

I sense a Saban-Bryant-Denny stadium in the future.

EDIT- Though thanks to LSU, Saban has a lower SEC Championship rate, even presuming Bama wins it this year - that's "only" 3/7, as opposed to Bryant's 13/25. The SEC was smaller back then though.

I have the "want" to believe Mr. Chicken...but as long as CNS is at bama....they will be the team to beat...and the damage of the recent Bama success will weigh on the psyche of the Tiger fan base for a good while.

I hope the end comes sooner rather than later...Hook'em Horns!!!!

Cycles are real. LSU 2003, 2007 and 2011. If you demand being an elite program then set expectations to 11-2 and top 5 every year. (As a reminder, we can still finish 10-3 in a "rebuilding year"). Then cheer for the stars to align to capture a championship once every ~5 years: recruiting, coaching, leadership on the field, a few timely huge plays and a little luck. What Bama is accomplishing these last few years is the exception that has only been acheived twice previously: Miami in 80's and Nebraska in 70's. Take a look at recent records for Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan and Southern Cal and then contemplate that we were one play from beating Bama last year. There is not THAT huge of a gulf between the programs rigth now. Just 3 of our defensive starters from last year had stayed then we'd be debating how to beat Florida State right now.

I think we are splitting hairs here. Both are legends. Sure, Saban only lost less than 3 games at lsu 1 time in 5 season but he is remarkable at bama. I will point out though, that politics all play a significant role in the comparison. Saban should not have the 2011 title. That was horseshite and everyone knows it. At the same time i am not positive but would say confidently that bear claimed a title or 2 with other unbeatens the same year that have an argument. This is the problem with college football. There is never a true champion and won't be until a deep playoff is implemented like in FCS (8-16 teams). Otherwise, the most political and corrupt schools will keep claiming titles.
